New Law to limit recission of insurance coverage
(October 27, 2007) In an unprecendented joint move by the California Department of Managed Health Care and
Department of Insurance a new law that takes effect in January attempts to make it harder for insurers to rescind health coverage.
Earlier this year Blue Cross Blue Shield and Kaiser Permanente were subject to large fines (story here).
The new law requires insureres to pay hospitals and physicians for authorized care even if insurers later revoke coverage.

Kaiser Permanente Santa Clara fined for infant boy's death
(October 25, 2007) State health officials fined Kaiser Permanente Santa Clara for a medication error
that killed a baby boy earlier this year. The hospital has seen a series of medication error related deaths.
The state's report details how even five weeks after the error was discovered pharmacy
technicians had still not been retrained on how to weigh medications.
